well, my first offer was rejected so i put in a second today. i will know next friday if the new one is accepted, but with the amount of people bidding, i am not very optimistic.

current mood: dejected

I either need a man or an electric blanket.

so i said this:
electric blankets don't talk. plus they turn on and turn off easily. my vote is clear.

6:16 pm - This, perhaps, is where it begins.
Small things, inconsequential to others, are now huge to me.

Last night, I wore bright red lipstick.

If you've talked to me recently, you understand.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, revelation8 sent to me...
Twelve novels reading
Eleven scrubs writing
Ten colors a-bookmaking
Nine books advertising
Eight toys a-geocaching
Seven cards a-sewing
Six lakes a-crocheting
Five da-a-a-ave eggers
Four wee babies
Three frosted flakes
Two moxy fruvous
...and a help! in a closet christianity.

11:35 pm - I wish YOU a Merry Christmas (because mine will be not-so-merry)
In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it 'Christmas' and went to church; the Jews called it 'Hanukkah' and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say 'Merry Christmas!' or 'Happy Hanukkah!' or (to the atheists) 'Look out for the wall!' -Dave Barry

Things are probably dire now. You reckon I can hold it together long enough to be helpful?

For those wishing for a grandma update, here it is: she's back at home right now and in good spirits, albeit under constant care. There are good days and bad, some symptoms better and some worse, but in many ways she is much improved. (For the time being, of course).

I am bored and it is the holiday season, so Take me out! I certainly need amusement & fun right now.

Speaking of, Richard sent me this link to share: http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/programs/2006/12/09/scripts/scratch.shtml

8:53 pm - okay, how many minutes later is it?
right. mom just got home from the hospital and now it doesn't look like grandma will be able to come back home. so i guess the lesson i need to learn is that things are still up in the air.

8:38 pm - For those I haven't talked to directly
This is an excerpt from an email I wrote earlier, but it sums things up well:

The good news is that she is actually improving with the treatments they are giving her, and that she could quite possibly go back home (perhaps needing assistance, but it's better than the alternative). I was absolutely heartbroken to think that she'd left her house that morning fully intending to return in the evening and that she might never, in fact, return. But that was pessimism and, quite frankly, a lack of knowledge talking. Things aren't nearly as dire as I thought they were. Let's blame my mother for being gone from before I woke up until after I went to bed two days in a row and my mind jumping into overdrive and thinking "deathwatch."

well, they admitted her today.

my mind keeps racing back to the time when this happened before. but i was so young, i can't remember anything. how many days was it from then until Then? will it follow the pattern? no, so why does it matter? i just don't know. i. just. don't. know.

i can only pray that she gets what she wants, and already i pray for the healing of others.

it's the little things that get to me-- like being in the grocery store today to buy some Ensure (nutrient milkshakes) for grandma because she's feeling too nauseous to eat-- and almost bursting into tears.

10:12 pm - like the yeti on the mountain
the problem with me is that i learned to code with telnet. i write my html by hand. i think i'm one of the last survivors of this unique species, one who can pop out two brackets, a slash, and a letter before a regular person could push ctrl-b.

i've since learned that notepad is better than telnet, if only for the fact that you can see mistakes before you upload. so i work in notepad now.

there are things i want to do, however-- advances in the internet world, if you will-- and it just seems to me like coding in notepad will take me significantly less time and effort than using one of my fancypants programs.

but it's time to learn my fancypants programs.

shawn, be prepared for tech support, LOL.
